The background
makes the relief.

The texture applied to the recessed background of a coin or pin changes everything: it kills or keeps the shine, adds depth, and makes the raised artwork stand out. Here are the 26 textures we run in the workshop, recreated so you can read each effect.

Sandblasted & grained

Sandblasted matte surface, from near-smooth satin to a pronounced grain. The most common background: it kills glare and makes the raised artwork pop.
