Case study · COIN RAFALE 2024
“A squadron crest, a CNC-cut steel mold, a struck and enamelled coin.”
Drag the slider: on the left, the real M88 steel die — machined by CNC from the vectorised artwork. On the right, the finished COIN RAFALE, designed for an engine-maintenance crew. Same piece, sixteen steps apart.
01
Design
Your sketch
You send us your idea, your crest, your references — even a photo or a hand drawing is enough.
Design & vectorisation
Our studio draws the artwork, vectorises it and prepares it precisely for production.
Proof approval
You approve the visual proof — colours, material, size. Nothing goes to production without your sign-off.
02
Tooling
CNC mold machining
The steel mold is CNC-machined to order, engraved from your approved artwork.
Mold checking
The mold is checked to the micron before the first strike — a flaw here ruins the whole run.
03
Manufacturing
Stamping / casting
Metal is stamped or cast in the mold — the relief is born, crisp and deep.
Shape cutting
The piece is cut to its exact shape, round or custom.
Attachment fitting
Velcro, clutch, ring or magnet — depending on the product and use.
04
Finishing
Polishing
The surface is polished to reveal the metal and prepare for plating.
Metal plating
Gold, silver, bronze, black nickel, antique… the final tone is applied (18 platings available).
Colour infill
Enamels are filled into the recesses one by one, by hand, colour by colour.
Baking
The piece is oven-baked to harden and permanently set the enamel.
Epoxy dome
Optional: a resin dome protects the artwork and gives it its shine.
05

Every piece is inspected one by one before packing. Non-conforming pieces are set aside.
