3D PVC, woven, embroidered: which technique for your patch?
Seven techniques, seven looks, seven uses. The guide to choosing the right manufacturing method for your artwork, your budget and your intended use.
It is the question we are asked most: "which technique should I choose?" Here is a clear guide, free of jargon.
3D PVC — the modern standard
The most versatile. Moulded relief, rugged finish, resistant to water, UV and repeated velcro use. Choose it if: daily wear on the flight suit, a coat of arms with crisp shapes, a squadron that wants a patch built to last ten years. It is our bestseller, and for good reason.
Woven — the authentic military look
The fine "textile" finish historically used by the air force. Light, slim, it sits naturally with ceremonial dress. Choose it if: you want the classic regulation look, crisp lines, up to 8 colours.
Embroidered — the warm vintage feel
Textile relief, a tactile dimension, an artisanal finish. Choose it if: a historic coat of arms, a patch worn on ceremonial occasions or displayed, a "pre-war" aesthetic. Limited to 5 thread colours.
Sublimated / printed — photographic definition
Unlimited colours, gradients, photographs. Choose it if: your artwork is complex, rich in nuance, or contains an image. 3D PVC with printing combines relief AND definition.
Leather — the premium tier
Laser engraving or printing on genuine leather. Choose it if: a limited edition, an elite insignia, a protocol gift. A sober, premium finish.
Felt — the standout object
A noble material, a warm touch, a vintage look. Choose it if: you want a patch that stands apart, evocative of the great traditions.
Our advice
When in doubt: 3D PVC for daily use, woven for ceremony, embroidered for heritage. And above all — ask for the proof. Seeing the simulated result before production avoids 90% of disappointments.
